A balanced wheel keeps the ride smooth
An unbalanced wheel causes vibration that travels into the steering wheel and the body. It is uncomfortable, and over time the tire wears unevenly.
Wheels must always be balanced after a new tire is fitted, and whenever you feel a shake while driving.
Signs that a wheel is out of balance
The steering wheel shakes at a certain speed
If the steering wheel or the seat starts to shake at a certain speed, an unbalanced wheel is often the cause.
The tire wears unevenly
Tread worn in patches can point to a balance problem. It is worth having the wheels checked.
A tire has just been fitted
After fitting, a wheel always has to be balanced – with us this is included in the fitting price.
